Description

Black Forest Hand Carved Nutcracker c.1920s

A lovely Antique hand carved wooden nutcracker believed to be from the Black Forest region of Germany. This well made antique wooden nutcracker appears in the form of a gnome or alpine villager sporting a rather fetching pointed hat. The man’s angular features are well carved, imbuing the figures face with expressive detail. The nutcracker operates by virtue of a handle located on the rear of the piece, which opens and closes the figures lower jaw. This lends the appearance of the gnome-like creature cracking and chewing any nuts placed inside. The mechanism still operates easily, with the nutcracker’s mouth opening and closing smoothly. This Black Forest Hand Carved Nutcracker c.1920s would make a wonderful addition to any nutcracker collection!
