A wonderful antique Blakeman & Henderson Limoges Hand Painted 7 Piece Fish Plate Set, circa 1890s. Signed by “Revs”, the artist, all seven pieces additionally stamped on the underside “B&H Limoges France”.
Blakeman & Henderson Limoges Mark
The set consists of one large platter and six 8 ¾” plates, all decorated thematically with fish within a blush and teal hued water scene. The decoration is not identical across the plates as the fish face different directions. However, this creative decision aids in the legitimacy and effect of the items being hand painted. The plates have lightly scalloped edges, to match the more ornate platter. Brushed with gold around the rim, this complements the light catching on the waves within the plate design.

Condition:
Pre-owned, the fish plate set is in very good condition. There does not appear to be any scratches on the decoration, however, there is some fading on the gold brushwork indicative to age and handling. No chips, cracks, or repairs.
