Heywood Wakefield Miami Collection Vanity with Mirror

A wonderful mid century modern Heywood Wakefield Miami Collection Vanity with Mirror. Part of a bedroom set, the companion bed frame, nightstand, and 4 drawer chest are also available at Avonlea Antiques & Interiors. The original pieces came in champagne or wheat finishes but this refinished bedroom set appears to sport a medium-to-dark walnut finish.

Designed by Leo Jiranek, the Miami collection’s gently curved edges convey graceful lines, pleasing proportions, and high utility.

5 Bakelite mirror clips secure the mirror to the frame.

Heywood Wakefield manufactured the Miami bedroom collection for a very short period, between 1941-42, as part of their Streamline Modern furniture line. This popular series became notable for the curved front design. Production halted after this time as Heywood Wakefield redirected its manufacturing towards helping the war effort.

 

Dimensions:

The Vanity with mirror measures approximately 47” Long x 56 ¾” Tall x 20” Deep.

The Vanity base measures approximately 23 ½” Tall x 47” Long x 20” Deep (without mirror).

The detachable mirror measures approximately 36 ⅜” Tall x 34 ⅛” Long.

 

Condition:

Pre-owned, this Heywood Wakefield Miami Collection Vanity with Mirror is in Good condition with some wear commensurate with age. It is stained a medium to dark walnut color instead of the traditional Champagne or Wheat. Next, there are several light scratches and wear from use. The top of left side drawers shows the most wear. Additionally, light scratches are present in several places. Likewise, a slightly deeper scratch is visible near the drawer pulls. Drawer pulls show some signs of wear from use. Because of contact between drawers, There are scuffs and wear to the top of the drawer pulls. Drawers slide well. Vintage cloth label inside top left drawer reads “Furness’s Home of Furniture Care Refinishing-Repair-Upholstering Because You Care.” Mirror is in Good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Some loss of silver along edges of mirror. Finally, please review all photos as they are an important part of our description.
