Vintage Gentile Art Glass Paperweight Millefiori 1970s

A stunning, eclectically colorful Vintage Gentile Art Glass Paperweight Millefiori. This retro collectible can’t help but amaze. The piece grabs your attention with vivid, vibrant colors in hypnotic repeating patterns. Perfect for use on a home or office desk, or light it in a curio and watch it become a conversation piece! Artist signed, the words “Gentile Glass” and “Star City W.V.” appear raised on the base of the paperweight along with an outline of a man that appears to be glass blowing.

 

Dimensions:

The item measures approximately 3” sphere (height and diameter.) The flat base measures approximately 2” in diameter.

Condition:

Pre-owned, the item is in Very Good condition with some slight wear commensurate with age and use. The only noticeable defect is a light scratch, approximately ½” (see photos). No chips, cracks, repairs, or additional blemishes. Lastly, please view all photographs as they serves as an extension to the description and condition report.

About the Artist:

Mr. John Gentile (1923-2006) was born into a glass making family, with his father Peter being the first. One of the main contributing innovators of the American paperweight renaissance. He began in the glass business in 1947 in Star City, West Virginia. John made a large range of paperweights and decorative table ware At first he catered to the lucrative tourist trade, but over the decades he honed his skills and perfected his particular style. During this time he produced high quality, unique and technically challenging paperweights. Unfortunately, when John passed away in 2006 the company closed down shortly thereafter.
