Vintage Pontus Holmberg Eskilstuna Hunting Knife with sheath. Made in the Swedish city of Eskilstuna, this vintage hunting knife boasts fine craftsmanship and an attention to detail. This handsome fixed blade knife features an understated bone handle, as well as a sturdy brass guard. The set includes a leather sheath that shows wear from time and use.
About P. Holmberg Knives:
Pontus Homberg (1852-1893) founded his factory, Aktiebolaget Pontus Homberg, in 1876. Following his death in 1893, the company passed to his brother Fritiof Holmberg (1860-1911) and later to Fritiof’s sons, Fritiof Ragnar (1889-1916) and Fritiof Ruben (1893-1952). In 1951, Heljestrands Industries bought out the company, though they continued to produce barrel knives until at least 1954 (catalog No. 18). Ultimately, the company closed their doors in the early 1960s.
The knife with sheath measures approximately 9 ½” Long x 2” Wide x 2” Tall.
The hunting knife measures approximately 8 ½” Long x 2” Wide x 2” Tall.
The blade measures approximately 4 ½” Long.
Item is in Good pre-owned condition with wear commensurate with age and use. Blade could use a good cleaning. A couple minor chips in blade. The pommel shows heavy signs of use, including dents, scratches, and general wear and tear. The leather sheath shows wear from time and use, including scuffs, scrapes and scratches as well as friction wear from use. A previous owner appears to have carved their name into the sheath.
