Vintage Silkscreen Double Sided Folding Hand Held Fan

Description

A vintage silkscreen double-sided folding handheld fan, depicting an outdoor gathering scene on either side. Original artwork by M. Diego. The front side of the fan features an outdoor picnic scene affixed to the decorative folding fan blades. The design depicts a traditional outdoor repose scene on the reverse side, along with plane fan blades. The fan ribs are hidden between the two pieces of fabric artwork.

Featuring a tortoiseshell coloring, the exterior of the fan is decorated elaborately with floral motifs. Engraved, then filled with gold-tone and complementing colors aid in highlighting the pattern. A gold-tone loop sits at the pivot point of the item.

Closed the fan measures 9 3/4″ long x 1 1/2″ wide.

The fan is 17″ across when open fully.

Pre-owned, the item is in fair condition with signs of wear indicative of age and use. Even though there are no tears, there are signs of pin hole marks on the silkscreen portion of the fan. Additionally, the gold edge is frayed and there is some separation of the fabric along the outer edge. The artwork is clear and viable. Also, the gold-tone floral motive features minor fading and scratches, again most likely from use.
