Bohemian Malachite Glass Ashtray “Four Races of Man” Four Face Figural Art Deco

This Bohemia malachite glass ashtray features four molded faces, each with a dedicated cigarette rest above the head. The design reflects the early 20th-century concept of the “Four Races of Man,” depicting White, Black, Asian, and Indigenous figures. The ashtray measures approximately 3″ tall and 4.5″ in diameter.

Malachite glass, sometimes referred to as jade glass, was a popular decorative art glass produced during the 1920s and 1930s. Designed to imitate the appearance of natural malachite stone, known for its rich green coloration and swirling patterns. Many examples were produced in Bohemia, now part of the Czech Republic, and remain sought after by collectors of Art Deco glass.

This piece is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks, or crazing. It has been well taken care of by an Avonlea consignor and is now waiting to be cherished by you.
