1929 Cast Iron “WIMPY” Popeye toy by Hubley

$99.00

An antique cast iron figurine of the character J. Wellington Wimpy from Popeye comics and cartoons. He is known for his iconic line “I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today.”

The figurine was made along with an assortment of Popeye characters by Hubley, a company based out of Lancaster, PA known for manufacturing highly collectible American toys from the early 1910s until the 1940s. The back is marked © 1929 K.F.S (King Features Syndicate) Made in U.S.A.

It stands at roughly 3” tall and weighs about 8.2 oz. Due to its age and hand-painted nature, there are visible chips and cracked paint on the figure. However, it is still in good condition especially when taking into account its rarity (and the fact that it is almost a century old!)
